Maash ki dal
I was introduced to this dal by my friend Z many years back when I had visited her home in Hyderabad.
It was usually eaten for breakfast with hot rotis on Saturdays.
This is a delicious, simple and light tasting dal.
The recipe :
Udad dal – 1 cup
Onions – 3 medium, thinly sliced
Green chillies – 2 chopped
Coriander leaves – chopped
Wash the Udad dal.
Boil the Udad dal in a pan of water with salt and 1 green chilli.
The dal should be cooked till soft but not sticky.
On the side, take a pan with little oil and slowly brown the onions. Taking care not to blacken them. The onions should be crispy.
Sieve out the water from the boiled dal. Also remove the green chillies.
Add fresh chopped green chilli, chopped coriander leaves and the onions.
Eat with Roti’s.
